    In collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), WBFI hosted India's first International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in November 2022. This event offered significant benefits for persons with disabilities in the country, providing a platform to showcase the sport and fostering international collaboration. The ICRC, a longstanding supporter, generously financed a substantial portion of the expenses, including travel, accommodation, and more, with a commitment of around INR 3.5 Crore. The tournament featured men's teams from Libya, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Gaza, along with women's teams from Cambodia, Nepal, and India.

  • AOZ Championships for Men & Women

    The 2022 AOZ Championships for men and women were scheduled to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, spanning from May 16th to May 29th, 2022. This significant event served as the qualification tournament for both the IWBF 2022 World Championships in the United Arab Emirates and the 2022 Asian Para Games in China. The championships offered a crucial platform for teams to compete and secure their participation in these major international wheelchair basketball competitions.

    In partnership with the ICRC, WBFI successfully hosted an unprecedented international wheelchair basketball tournament in India in November/December 2022. This marked a historic milestone as the first-ever international-level event of its kind in the country. The tournament's organisation immensely benefited persons with disabilities in India, shining a spotlight on wheelchair basketball and encouraging widespread participation. Over the seven-year history of wheelchair basketball in India, more than 700 players experienced transformative effects, gaining not only physical benefits but also renewed confidence and the ability to envision brighter futures.
