The students of the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics (IBD) have long sought broader educational objectives, which stands in stark contrast to the traditional learning institutions described above, which concentrate nearly solely on Buddhist practice and scholarship. In addition to Buddhist philosophy classes, students also study Tibetan language, grammar, literature, poetry, and religious and political history in Tibet. Students who are interested can also study Chinese and English.
