Child marriage is not just an age-old social evil, but also a heinous crime that robs children of their childhood. Child marriage is a “crime against children” that violates basic human rights, minor girls are forced to marry and live a life of mental trauma, physical and biological stress, domestic violence including limited access to education and increased vulnerability to domestic violence. The consequences of child marriage are severe and extensive. Some of the specific consequences include: early pregnancies leading to complications and higher rate of maternal mortality and death of infants, malnutrition among both the infant and the mother, increased vulnerability to reproductive health, disruption in girl’s education and thereby reduction in opportunities of her personal and professional development, domestic violence and abuse, limited decision making powers in the household, and mental health issues.

Enabling community participation in the Grama Sabha meetings.
Strengthening PRImembers at Panchayat level.
Leadership development in the primary level functional groups will be given high emphasis.
Creating awareness among the PRI members. Ensuring benefits of the development programs to reach the vulnerable communities of women .
Enabling leadership capacities at village level among Sewika didi , ASHA/Sahiya didi, SHGs and local bodies.Activities Baseline surveys .

Jharkhand Anti Trafficking Network (JATN) is a collective network which tries to counter the challenges of trafficking and promote safe migration policy practices at village level. There is no specific financial support to run this intervention therefore Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan(CKN is utilizing its own resources with the help of british asian trust to facilitate the objectives of this project in 10 villages of Kamdara block which is in gumla district.

​JATN project’s core principle objectives are to stop trafficking, ensure safe migration and to attain these the project mission is awareness generation among communities, the Governance structure, Formation of Migration forums and Dissemination of schemes and benefits for labors among community members.

​CKN within the range of its operation area does aware people about trafficking, risks involved in unsafe migration, elaboration of Govt. schemes for labors, its registration & norms for various categories of labors. These are genera

As a direct response to the problem of Malnourishment highlighted in the published Lancet study highlighting the disparities between states, CKN has put together a framework for action in Village based intervention and programs. The framework focuses on the most effective option of preventing and correcting malnourishment in children by provision of Milk.

CKN aims to support villages not only to ensure that children receive adequate daily nourishment through milk, but also to engage in the learning activities to impact their overall health and wellbeing.
