    At TBEF, we operate a Destitute Home for Deprived Children from underserved sections of our society. Children are provided Nutritious Food, Accommodation, Education in English Medium School, Sports & Extra Curricular Activity training for a Holistic Development. The Purpose of the Programme is to support the well-being of those in need, including the disadvantaged, destitute, impoverished, single parent children from the less fortunate sections of our community and to facilitate a world where every child has access to a supportive community, quality education and resources to thrive, ensuring they grow into confident and capable individuals who positively impact the society. It has been our endeavor to provide the right Platform & Opportunity to these Children so that they may realize their potential and come out of the cycle of poverty.

    At present, we have 35 Children at our Destitute Home who come from South & North 24 Parganas District of West Bengal.

Impact

Here we would like to highlight the Impact / Case Studies of some of our children. ( Names have been Changed) · Niloy has been with The Biswas Educational Foundation from 2012-2025. He lost his father very early in life. His mother worked in the agriculture sector and found it quite challenging to make both ends meet. Niloy is the youngest of 3 siblings.He scored 77.7% in Board ( Class 10) examinations & 82% in Higher Secondary Examinations. He aspires to be a CA/CFA in future. Niloy is extremely talented in Athletics & stood first and broke the last 28 years’ record, scoring 6.57 meters in Long Jump at 37th Annual Athletic Meet 2022-2023 competition held by South 24 Parganas District Sports Association . In October,2024, Niloy achieved 1st position in Long Jump, 1st position in Triple Jump and 2nd position in 100 meters race at 68th District School Athletics Meet 2024 for Secondary & Higher Secondary levels organized by The District Council for School Games & Sports, South 24 Parganas . Niloy also secured 1st position in Triple Jump and 3rd position in Long Jump at 68th State School Games in Athletics in October 2024. · At National Level, Niloy participated in 67th National School Games 2023-24 in December,2023 & 19th National Youth Athletics Championship in June 2024. He also took part in 34th East Zone Junior Athletics Championship,2023. He participated in the 68th National School Games in Athletics held in Ranchi, Jharkhand from 5th – 8th January, 2025. · Malati’s father is not there, she was rescued by a person when he accosted her mentally challenged mother who was on the verge of throwing her into a lake when she was only a month old. Her mother could not be traced thereafter. The person who rescued her kept her with his family for some time before she was handed over to TBEF. At present, Malati is studying in Class 8 in English medium school. Apart from studies, she is very good in singing & athletics. She also has a very nice & artistic handwriting. She is growing up to be a matured & responsible person. · Manisha is the youngest of 4 sisters. Coming from a very economically challenged family, Manisha lost her father early in life. Her mother travelled long distances by local train to work at people’s homes to support the family. Manisha is very good at studies. She secured 81.4% marks in Madhyamik Exams ( Class 10 Board Exam) & 77% in Higher Secondary Examinations in Science stream. In June 2022 Manisha stood first in Vidyasagar Science Olympiad – 2022, from Sonarpur under South 24 Parganas. · Sanjay lost his father in 2008 due to severe Heart attack. Post his father’s death, his mother became unwell and got afflicted with Terminal Cancer. Hearing this , his grandparents took his mother back to their native place, leaving Sanjay & his brother with some villagers at Canning. Hearing about them from the Panchayat Pradhan, TBEF decided to admit Sanjay after required document checks. Sanjay has grown up to be an excellent human being. He secured 67% in Higher Secondary examinations in Commerce stream. He dreams of being a Chartered Accountant. Sanjay is very talented in Sports .He came 2nd in 100 mtrs, & 1st in Javelin in 2023 District Sports meet. He also secured 3rd position in 4x400 mtr & 2nd in 4x100 mtr relay race at State Sports meet. In 2024 District meet, he secured 1st position in 100 mtrs & 2nd position in Javelin. It is noteworthy to mention that our children have achieved the above positions practising with minimum kits with very basic exercises & normal nutrition while practising in open fields. We provide Nutritious Food, Accommodation & Quality Education to our Children so that they may grow up to be worthy citizens and also get the opportunity & platform to realize their true potential.
