               Sunehra Kal ProgrammeDistrict Kolkata Kamrup Ganjam Khordha Hooghly Howrah States West Bengal Assam Odisha Water for People India’s "Community and School Level WASH Initiatives under Mission Sunehra Kal" aims to promote sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene services in West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam. With funding from ITC Limited since 2014, the project collaborates with communities, gram panchayats, and local institutions. It focuses on facilitating safe drinking water access, gender and child-friendly sanitation, and strong local governance. So far, it has impacted 34,780 students, built 1,175 Individual Household Latrines and 39 community toilets. Achievements include active Child Cabinets, School Management Committees, adequate bathing facilities, and recognition through awards. The project plans to replicate success, scale up, and strengthen linkages with local government for sustainability.

               Clean & Safe Environment ProgrammeDistrict Birbhum States West Bengal Water for People India's "Swaccho Nirapad Parivesh" project, funded by the National Stock Exchange Foundation, focuses on creating a clean and safe environment by strengthening water services and systems. Operating in Rajnagar and Khoyrasol blocks in Birbhum district, West Bengal, it aims to retrofit WASH infrastructure, promote positive behaviours, and improve operation and maintenance. The project ensures sustained open defecation-free activities, retrofitting in schools and Anganwadi centres, safe drinking water provision, and stakeholder participation. The positive outcomes include increased school attendance and WASH prioritization in Gram Panchayat plans. It plans to replicate and scale up the project, achieving 100% water coverage and strengthening community-based institutions for improved services.

               Everyone Forever ProgrammeDistrict South 24 Parganas States West Bengal Water for People India's "Everyone Forever" project, funded by charity: water, expands access to sustainable water and sanitation services in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. It adopts the Everyone Forever model, providing safe water, sanitation, and WASH facilities to excluded communities. With a focus on citizen engagement, local leadership, and capacity-building, milestones have been achieved in Sagar and Patharpratima blocks. Over 545,000 people have benefited from community water points, piped-water supply, school WASH infrastructure, and household toilets. Positive outcomes include 100% water access, Water User Committees for maintenance, and improved sanitation facilities for students. Lessons are shared to replicate the model with NGOs and research organisations, empowering impacted communities to form more committees and promote caretakers of water systems.

               The Water InitiativeDistrict Amravati States Maharashtra Water for People India's "The Water Initiative" project, funded by Colgate Palmolive (India) Limited, focuses on improving the quality of life for marginalized communities in Amravati district, Maharashtra. By strengthening water sources and implementing mini-piped water supply schemes, the project aims to reduce groundwater dependency and enhance access to safe drinking water in schools and Anganwadi centres. Positive outcomes include saving time and effort for women and girls who previously had to travel long distances for water, improved school attendance, and increased water resource management. Through collaborations with stakeholders and initiatives like Mission Paani, Water For People India seeks to replicate and scale the model, promoting water conservation and sustainable governance for future generations.

               Sheohar ProgrammeDistrict Sheohar States Bihar Water for People India's "Project Sheohar," funded by One Drop Foundation, charity: water, and Water For People, focuses on integrated WASH solutions to improve the quality of life in Sheohar district, Bihar. By implementing the "Everyone Forever" and "Access-Behaviour-Capital" models, the project aims to expand access to safe drinking water, sanitation infrastructure, and water-efficient farming techniques. Collaboration with Government, social art partners, civil society organisations, and private agencies enhances the project's impact. The use of Social Art for Behaviour Change (SABC) sustains positive outcomes and promotes collective behaviour change. The project has already benefited over 370,000 people through community water points, school WASH facilities, and training programmes. The second phase of Project Sheohar aims to reach 351,000 people and utilize diverse communication tools to foster behaviour change.

Impact
Water for People India has made an impact by creating 10 Everyone Forever Districts, building 32 community toilets in slums, implementing 33 piped water supply schemes, and training 235 local youth as Jalabandhus, its efforts have reached 1,160 schools with WASH facilities, installing 2,487 community water points, and formed 26,190 active water user committees, in addition, it has constructed 45,000 individual household latrines, resulting in the transformation of 1.2 million lives.
