In its effort to address the pressing need for skill development, the organisation offers four distinct training programmes: computer training, mobile repairing, tailoring, and handicrafts. Each course accommodates 25 candidates, with a total of 100 candidates completing the two-month training in a single batch. Remarkably, several trainees have successfully secured employment, while others have ventured into entrepreneurial endeavours. Notably, this initiative is entirely self-funded, with finances sustained through the sale of tailor-made and handicraft products, and contributions from computer training and mobile repairing graduates once they commence their careers.

The organisation plays a vital role in empowering the tribal community by ensuring their access to Government livelihood programmes and social security initiatives, such as widow and old-age pensions, and agricultural schemes. Recognizing the challenges posed by illiteracy and lack of awareness among these communities, it acts as a bridge between Government programs and those in need. This is accomplished through the establishment of self-help groups, which facilitate participation in Government schemes and opportunities for marginalized individuals. Additionally, the organisation has formed Seeds Cooperative Committees at the village level, uniting farmers and connecting them with agricultural development initiatives, fostering collective growth and development.

The organisation actively engages in health-related initiatives, particularly focusing on tuberculosis awareness. With the support of CBCI cards under the AKSHYA project, it conducts regular awareness programmes in remote areas of the district. This TB awareness effort is operational in 30 villages within the Ranapur block, facilitated by dedicated workers. Furthermore, the organisation collaborates with the health department to organise regular health camps in schools, aimed at ensuring children's well-being during seasonal disease outbreaks.

With the backing of DFID, the organisation is actively engaged in the PACS Project, spanning 44 villages in the Ranapur blocks. This initiative is primarily focuses on improving the implementation of the Forest Right Act and the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Under this programme, the organisation is dedicated to safeguarding the rights of the local communities in relation to forests, land, and water resources, thereby empowering them to secure these essential aspects of their livelihoods.

The Panchayat Act, enforced in 1992, designates the Gram Sabha as the village's highest authority. Despite its long existence, full implementation has been lacking in many rural areas, depriving people of its benefits. SHSS, along with Tarashi Strot Centre, has successfully empowered six village panchayats in the Jhabua block, allowing local villagers to actively participate in the Gram Sabha.

Additionally, the organisation is working to expand the reach of the 1996 Panchayat Act (PESA Act) and the 1998 Gram Sabha Rule for Madhya Pradesh Schedule Areas in tribal regions. This includes forming Gram Sabhas to empower the local community, particularly regarding traditional and cultural rights, such as traditional judicial systems and rights to forests, land, and water. The goal is to inform communities about the significance of Gram Sabha and PESA, promoting improved local self-governance and cultural preservation.
