KIDPOWER India is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating safer communities. Kidpower India provides training in safety skills to children, te Read moreens, and adults. The training teaches how to stay safe, protect oneself and others, and increase self-confidence in any situation. The methods effectively prevent bullying, create awareness about strangers, abuse prevention, and personal safety. Kidpower India is the local centre of Kidpower Teenpower and Fullpower International. Kidpower also focuses on children in difficult situations by providing them with education support, safety training, and other intervention that will help them continue their education and have a better future. In partnership with around 20 low costs schools, we provide 200 scholarships for girls from poor families to continue their education every year. Another important work of Kidpower India is the Manasu children's home where we provide comprehensive care for orphan and vulnerable children. We also work in 5 slums to prevent child labour and ensure that the children go to school by running bridge schools and vocational training. In these communities, we are also working hard to help people and groups whose situation has become vulnerable because of COVID-19.

Community Learning Centres
DistrictKidpower India is working in the slums of Visakhapatnam to eradicate child labour through bridge schools and full scholarships for children to study in low-cost private schools. Most of the families are rag pickets, hair collection, selling brooms, begging and a few go to daily wage labour. They are in extreme poverty and have no savings. It is to be noted most of the families are large with each family having 3-4 children on average. At present, we are working in 2 slums of Visakhapatnam: Ekalavya Colony and Chittibabu Colony. About 430 families live in these slums. With the support of CCI, Canada we are running two bridge schools: Hope and LG bridge schools. Around 20-30 children attend the schools and are provided with basic education.

Manasu Girl Children Home
For more than 14 years Manasu home is providing care and support to girls who are orphans or come from the difficult and abusive family backgrounds. The home provides many facilities like a safe stay, education, vocational training etc. Manasu Home is located in Visakhapatnam and is the only exclusive girl care centre that provides care and supports exclusively for girls. The centre believes that home care is the best care and tries to integrate the family back into the child. However, in cases where children could not integrate back home because of the vulnerable or abusive situation at home or the absence of caretakers. In such situations, the home provides education and vocational training support to the girl child. The centre can accommodate up to 45 children.
