Heritage Experience Programme
Sahapedia offers two heritage engagement programs. India Heritage Walks (IHW) provides immersive experiences across 60+ Indian cities, connecting people with local heritage through themes like architecture, food, and history. It aims for inclusivity and collaboration, boasting India's largest network of heritage walks. Additionally, Anubhuti focuses on making culture accessible to individuals with disabilities and disadvantaged backgrounds, organizing 100+ events across 10+ cities, fostering art-integrated learning, and involving youth in heritage promotion and protection, making heritage relevant to their learning journeys.
-
Baithak Programme
Sahapedia's Baithak is an informal, multidisciplinary interaction series that fosters dialogue about heritage across various contexts. It aims to explore India's history, culture, arts, and trends by hosting speakers from diverse backgrounds. These discussions, reminiscent of traditional baithaks, create a conscious community where individuals can share their perspectives on India's cultural heritage. For instance, one Baithak organised as part of the India Heritage Walk Festival in 2020 delved into the industrial heritage of railways in India, bringing together experts and enthusiasts to discuss the significance and preservation of this complex heritage associated with the nation's extensive railway system.
-
Conference Session
Sahapedia conducts conferences to foster cultural understanding and knowledge sharing. In 2021, it initiated a Cultural Mapping conference, inviting researchers and practitioners to contribute papers under various themes. This resulted in the #CultureForAll Conference, where 15 papers were presented digitally, exploring cultural mapping in South Asia and beyond. These papers delve into diverse topics, from literature in Nagaland to music in South Africa, authored by experts in history, literature, music, architecture, and education. Sahapedia's conferences serve as platforms for interdisciplinary discussions on cultural subjects, contributing to a broader understanding of cultural diversity and heritage.
-
Workshop Sessions
Sahapedia conducts workshops to foster knowledge sharing and engagement with cultural traditions. These workshops come in two forms: Thematic workshops, led by experts, offer hands-on experiences in India's craft and visual art traditions, immersing participants in specific knowledge traditions. Past themes included Devanagari calligraphy and traditional art forms like 'Mata ni Pachedi' and 'Kalighat' paintings. Heritage Documentation Workshops, on the other hand, focus on heritage preservation and documentation, aiming to enhance public and civil society involvement in this field. It provides a platform for various groups, including students, researchers, historians, and architects, to discuss and learn about heritage interpretation and documentation, including digital technology aspects. Sahapedia's workshops promote curiosity and the discovery of knowledge traditions and cultural practices.
-
Culture for All Programme
Sahapedia's #CultureForAll festival aims to celebrate and engage with culture in our daily lives, regardless of pandemic constraints. This phygital event series, starting in January 2021, includes talks, walks, live performances, and contests, accessible to a global audience. With a strong focus on inclusivity, it aims to reach a diverse audience and features the launch of a unique multilingual digital cultural map of significant Indian cities. Additionally, the festival hosts the #CultureForAll conference to recognize and consolidate cultural mapping and documentation efforts. It offers participants a chance to win prizes while exploring and celebrating cultural diversity.
