Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment is an initiative by IIT Delhi to encourage women to embrace entrepreneurship as a fulfilling career option with Read more an aim to address the problem of unemployment. The initiative provides training to a batch of 30 women in entrepreneurship, where guidance is provided to strengthen and validate the business idea. Also, women entrepreneurs are further connected to potential investors and buyers for their products so that they can take their business idea to a financially sustainable enterprise. The initiative has trained 500 women entrepreneurs in urban India through its online portal. Also, has trained 8,500 women in rural India on various micro enterprise activities like smokeless chulha, biodegradable sanitary napkins, e-chula, organic beekeeping, organic farming and using digital network to sell their wares, handicrafts and hand woven fabrics etc. Additionally, the initiative has introduced a corporate training program on women safety which includes training more than 1,000 men by sensitising them on women issues and treating women with respect.
