SBI Foundation works towards providing equal opportunities to marginalised communities to inculcate social development. The focus areas of the Foundat Read moreion are education, healthcare and sanitation, rural development, women empowerment, care for elderly citizens, environment and sustainability. SBIF works in collaboration with NGO partners to provide equitable development opportunities to people living in the poorest areas of the country. Within the domain of education, SBIF acts as an enabler in providing access to education for all. It works on the areas of access to education, education for the differently abled, education for the girl child, education infrastructure, teaching and pedagogy, career guidance and counselling. The projects in this domain involve funding schools in remote areas, creating spaces for learning for adolescent girls from socially challenged backgrounds and introducing a digital medium of learning government schools. Further the initiatives provide for mid-day meals, develop creative thinking abilities in children and encourage activity based learning in schools. Further there are special programs which are designed to ensure education for the differently abled children and girl child. Within the domain of health, the Foundation works on the themes of access to healthcare, organ transplants, cancer treatment, disability, alternative medicine, infant mortality and sanitation with 10 current partnerships for healthcare and sanitation across India In the areas of skill and livelihood development, the foundation in partnership with Centurion University has initiated the project “Kaushal Vikas” which provides for skill development training of youth with emphasis on SC, ST & women. The beneficiaries of this project are the socio-economically marginalised families of remote, rural and tribal regions of Odisha, backward and Left Wing Extremist Affected (LWEA) districts of adjoining eastern states. Within the domain of care for women and senior citizens, the foundation in partnership with Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society has initiated the project Care for senior citizens under which it has adopted 130 elderly persons at Garhmukteshwar Old age home in Uttar Pradesh. Through this project, it provides food, medical care and other institutional activities at the old age home. Additionally, the project Samriddhi- Action for Adolescent Girls in partnership with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) works towards uplifting adolescent girls by enhancing their life skills, providing health care and financial literacy in 150 villages of Chattarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The program impacts 4500 girls and helps them build perspectives on gender and social equity to improve the possibilities of their leadership in their own communities.
