Dalit Foundation

Dalit Foundation works towards the empowerment of Dalit communities through the provision of grants with an aim to support individuals, community-base Read mored organisations and networks that work to secure social change and protect the rights of the community. The Foundation provides scholarships to individuals working towards the upliftment of the marginalised communities including Dalits in India. The informal group of four persons who have religious, gender and social diversity, adopt to a common fellowship program which includes combating caste discrimination and untouchability in public schools and the local self-governance institutions. The program fellows organise youth and women across castes to ensure that such organisation, dialogue and discussions can combat caste and gender prejudices and practices. Further they also work with the children of all poor communities to ensure quality education. Additionally the Foundation provides training to male and female candidates from local villages under the Senior Dalit Activist Programme in vocational skills, leadership and social justice perspective to ensure that they inculcate social change in their respective villages. Also, the Foundation conducts a variety of workshops such as perspective building workshops, review workshops, legal-aid training workshops, leadership training for Dalit women, account keeping training, cluster level meetings and fund raising workshops.
