Environics Trust works to create innovative community development programmes which are based on collective research on various ecological factors and Read morehuman behavior. It provides research and evaluation services to international, national, state and local institutions and directly works with marginalised communities such as those in the mountain regions, tribal communities and communities adversely affected by mining processes and industrialisation. It is a Participative Research Community Based Action enterprise. Further, it works to create evidence-based solutions keeping in mind the variety of ecosystems and socio-political-cultural environments. Also, the model for sustainable development created by the organisation comprises of equity and justice, environmental soundness, self-reliance and economic efficiency. Additionally, the strategy followed by the trust is structured around the understanding that each community responds differently to the complexity of specific eco-systems and social environments which in turn becomes the basis of the research ultimately leading to a specific community development programme. It is a recepient of the National Groundwater Augmentation Award 2010 from Ministry of Water Resources

Programs

  • Air quality analysis

    Conducts research and publishes findings on the data captured by portable devices installed in multiple locations in Korba, Delhi and Ranchi. The analysis is done over two reporting periods. The graph and data indicate that the air quality comes under dangerous levels during the winter months. The analysis depicts that the air quality is satisfactory during the summer and monsoon months. This data helps to make a causal analysis of the trend in the air quality.

  • Oil Extraction Machine installed at Nawara

    In Nawara, Chhattisgarh, a successful installation of a Cold Press Oil Extraction machine and groundnut de-husker machine took place at Mahamaya Bahudeshiya Sahkari Samiti Maryadit. The oil extraction machine can process 20KG of material per hour, using cold press technology that preserves the oil's integrity by generating less heat. The collective members were briefed on the machines' operations during a meeting.

  • Enterprise development

    To generate employment opportunities and empower women, the organisation conducts training on mushroom cultivation, sanitary napkin manufacturing and oil extraction.
