    The WASH Institute undertakes research and development projects to study various facets of water management and sanitation.

    It is studying methods of using dry faecal sludge as an alternative fuel, developing Sunidhi toilets in public places affording safety and security to women and adolescent girls, mapping best sanitation practices across India and studying the introduction of innovative hygiene and sanitation practices in schools.

    It intends to inform and create awareness of hygiene and the importance of maintaining it. The programme includes the construction of toilets in Government schools, sensitizing school students on the use of sanitation facilities and taking up activities to generate positive behaviour towards the usage of sanitation facilities.
