Programs

  • Ignite: Transformational Education

It is a supplementary education programme for underprivileged children delivered during weekends by more than 2,000 trained volunteers. It supported 10,000 children in 2015 across 12 Indian cities. The programme consists of English, Mathematics, Science, Robotics, Computers, Dance, Arts, Sports, Mentoring, and Life skills support.

  • Community Learning Centres

Are centres run by volunteers picked up and trained from the local community itself. The tutors being from the local community, connect to parents and children more easily and can deliver academic classes more efficiently. The volunteers are supported by Bhumi through training them and skilling them to manage the community centre.

  • Right to Education Awareness

Creates awareness among underprivileged families as to their fundamental rights to get their children educated. This helps poor children transform their lives and their community’s fortunes.

  • Seed Ball Programme

Another volunteer-led programme is Its seed-ball initiative, wherein volunteers roll marble-sized balls of earth, each containing a seed. These balls can be dispersed by just randomly throwing them on vacant earth leading to germination of the seeds and gradual increase of green cover.

  • Shelter Homes Programme

Trained volunteers provide classes over weekends to underprivileged children living in shelter homes.

The classes feature a mix of academics and culture with sessions on English, Mathematics, Science, Robotics, Computers, Mentoring, Arts, Sports, and Life-Skills support besides talent festivals and competitions.

To balance academics, activities like dance, arts and sports are also made an integral part of the curriculum.

  • Socio-emotional Learning Programme

To address the pressure and stress faced by school children, Bhumi conducts socio-emotional development programmes in schools. This programme features coaching on managing the self, establishing supporting relationships, taking caring decisions and also involves the teaching staff to create supportive spaces for learning and discussion.

  • School Improvement Programme

This programme attempts to strengthen existing facilities in schools and also add them if required. It features school painting workshops, upgrading toilets and drinking water infrastructure, setting up libraries and playgrounds and supporting the school with teaching and learning aids.

  • Catalyze: Transforming Citizenry

It is a civic initiative for causes like animal welfare, community welfare, disability, environment, health, etc. It has engaged 10,000 regular volunteers each year in over 15 cities across India.

  • Scholarships

Bhumi is committed to ensuring that each child in need gets a fair chance at education, and no adversity should result in a child having to discontinue their education.
