The Sai Bangoda Village project, located in an Aadivasi village within urban Powai, aims to provide educational opportunities to the underprivileged children residing there. Asha Mumbai initiated preschool classes eight years ago to address the lack of educational facilities in the hamlet. With enthusiastic local participation, the project has become a supplementary educational resource for around 35 to 40 children from grades 1 to 7. The teachers, who are from the village itself, undergo training at Asha Main Center (Powai) and implement the educational plans. Additionally, Asha supports the village with various needs, including uniforms, stationery, and nutrition, contributing to the overall advancement of education in Sai Bangoda Village and marking a successful endeavour for Asha Mumbai Center.

As part of its sustainability project, Asha offers Digital Geography education to students in 7th grade and above, concentrating on addressing Solid Waste Management issues. Through technology, students map areas and gather data for analysis by Government and municipal authorities. The project currently involves 5-6 staff members training 30 students, but the ultimate objective is to expand the initiative to train around 2000 college students from different colleges in Mumbai, in partnership with the Citizens Association for Child Rights (CACR).

In the Bajaha and Gomadih villages of Uttar Pradesh, Asha Mumbai is dedicated to providing education to children. The initiative was started by Shrawan Kanojiya, an ex-Asha student, who witnessed the dire lack of educational facilities for the children in his village. Asha's efforts in these villages are creating a significant and positive impact on the lives of the children, ensuring they have access to quality education, which is their fundamental right.

  • Asha Stars Programme

The Asha Stars programme offers a unique opportunity for individuals to engage intimately with specific education projects. These committed volunteers, known as Asha Stars, take personal responsibility for a small project under Asha for Education's guidance. With each Star guaranteeing financial support of $500 per year, the project gains long-term stability and moves towards self-sufficiency. Progress reports are shared online and with the Asha chapter, fostering accountability and spreading awareness. Asha Stars operate independently of group meetings and geographic limitations, connected by their unwavering commitment to the cause.

  • Support a Child - Enrich a Life Programme

Through this programme, individuals can sponsor the education or living expenses of an underprivileged child in India until they complete college or vocational training. With a monthly commitment of as little as $9, sponsors play a vital role in supporting these children's access to education and a brighter future. Asha identifies suitable education projects in India, connects sponsors with the children, and ensures proper disbursement and monitoring of funds. Sponsors even have the opportunity to visit the project, coordinating with the local stewards and coordinators.
