In addressing the prevalent issue of water-borne diseases causing absenteeism in rural Indian schools, initiatives have been implemented to ensure access to clean drinking water and promote proper water hygiene. This includes the installation of RO water treatment plants, UV purifiers, and mechanical purifiers in areas with electricity challenges. Additionally, WASH advocacy programs focus on educating children about the significance of sanitation and health, emphasizing the importance of handwashing with soap to reduce the risk of diarrheal and respiratory illnesses. These efforts aim to mitigate the impact of water-related illnesses and ensure that children can attend school without disruption to their education.

In response to the significant dropout rates among girls in India due to menstrual hygiene challenges, initiatives have been launched to address this issue, including the provision of biodegradable sanitary pads to 596 adolescent girls in Palghar district, Maharashtra. With only 36% of Indian women using menstrual hygiene products, resulting in vast amounts of plastic waste annually, the introduction of biodegradable pads aims to mitigate environmental impact while promoting menstrual health. Awareness sessions are conducted to combat menstrual taboos and empower girls to advocate for change within their communities, where menstruation is often stigmatized and women face exclusion from daily activities and religious practices. These efforts strive to foster a supportive environment for girls to manage their menstrual health and remain engaged in their education.
