    Nayi Disha is creating strong communities which are replicable, scalable, sustainable, and community-driven and will empower families of children with disabilities in Tier 2 ,3 and 4 cities. The program brings families and community together through on ground engagements, gradually integrating them to avail support digitally, enhance awareness, and build self-sustaining parent networks for long-term impact.
    1. Build communities and strengthen community engagement through local support group meetings, awareness workshops, and helpdesks, ensuring families receive guidance and support at every stage.
    2. Establish local ecosystem in identified cities by collaborating with government agencies, therapy centers, hospitals, and NGOs to provide long-term access to verified information and essential services.
    3. Ensure long-term sustainin the community through partners, community champions to lead independently with minimal assistance from Nayi Disha.

    Nayi Disha has already successfully conducted 17 cohorts of this 8-module parent training program for families of younger children with Autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities to educate parents on effective ways to contribute to their child’s development in home -setting. Saksham trainings are conducted in person workshops with about 30-50 families followed by online sessions and continued learning through online communities. The cohorts are conducted in local languages (Hindi, Telugu, Marathi).

    Objective:
    1. Help families accept and understand their child's condition and enable a perspective change
    2. Help families learn new information and feel confident to help their child and explore ways to communicate with their child and manage behaviours
    3. Help families enable their children on activities of daily living

    Nayi Disha has initiated Project Saarthi, an ambitious project in partnership with Women and Child Department Madhya Pradesh to establish sustainable early support systems to empower rural caregivers of children identified with delays or at risk of delays under the 0 to 6 years framework in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This is suitably aligned with the early childhood guidelines stated under Navchetana and Poshan tracker.
    1. Build capacity among frontline workers to deliver home-based development support and engage caregivers effectively
    2. Strengthen child development monitoring using DSS tool and DSS+ module
    3. Provide targeted developmental support to caregivers of children identified with delays or at risk of delays through Anganwadi workers which aligns with Divyang protocol and Navchetana guidelines

  • Sakhi - Helpliine

    Multi-channel Helpline – Sakhi

    Families often feel the need to speak or chat with someone who can patiently listen to their concerns, address them and help them cope with their child’s disability. To address this gap, Nayi Disha launched a simple chat tool in 2019 and launched a multi-channel helpline during the pandemic to support families during the lockdown. The helpline has address 30,000 plus queries so far and reached 24,000 helpline users.

    Salient Features of the Helpline
    1.An inclusive helpline with multi-lingual (8 languages) support catering to the diverse background families
    2.Inhouse experienced team of social workers, special educators, and counsellors to ensure holistic support
    3. Comprehensive information through its verified knowledge resources and curated directory of services.
    4. Ready panel of subject matter experts for queries that cannot be addressed in-house.  
    5. AI integration for queries on chatBOT which is then routed to the counsellor for additional needs

  • One stop Information Resource Centre

    We have created a web-enabled and mobile-accessible service platform (www.nayi-disha.org) that brings various stakeholders together and provides quality, localized information to families in an easily accessible manner. We support online services through offline events. information is available in hindi, marathi, Telugu and Bengali
    Online services:
    1. Information Resources: Information on various developmental disabilities spanning topics across various life-stages of (740+ published articles in English, Telugu and Hindi)
    2. A National directory of trustworthy service providers (7400 providers from cities/350 towns-1200 reviews) tagged with geo-location, services, conditions covered and ability to rate providers.
    3. A strong community of families– both online and offline (35 groups)

In the past decada, Nayi Disha has reached ~9 lac people across 1350+ towns in India, and created a thriving comunity of 62,000 families accessing a range of services through varied channels. Our helpline launched in 2021 has received more than 30,000 queries. The platform provides 740+ evidence-based artefacts in our library, created a directory of 7,400+ verified service providers from 350+ cities, nurtured 35+ parent support groups across the country
