Samphia Foundation is working in the hills of Himachal to bring children with developmental disabilities into the mainstream. It is managing the “A Read moreash Child Development Centre” to treat such children, more importantly educates their parents and the community in general to care and encourage the children. It works to simplify the concepts related to developmental disabilities like orthopaedic impairments, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, speech and hearing impairments, developmental delays, sensory processing disorders. Its projects include early intervention therapy programmes, community based rehabilitation programmes, pre-school programmes and inclusive interventions, Training and inclusion programmes.

Programs

  • Aash Early Intervention Therapy Program

    The Aash Early Intervention Therapy Program, initiated by the Samphia Foundation in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, is dedicated to supporting children from birth to age seven with developmental disabilities. Established on April 1, 2019, the program offers a comprehensive, play-based approach that includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special education. By focusing on each child's strengths and involving parents through training and counseling, Aash aims to enhance developmental outcomes and promote inclusion. The program's holistic methodology encompasses assessment, individualized therapy plans, and regular evaluations, striving to build a more inclusive community for children with diverse abilities.

  • Therapy on Wheels

    Launched by the Samphia Foundation in December 2020, "Therapy on Wheels" is India's first mobile therapy clinic, serving children with disabilities in the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh. Equipped with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy tools, the van travels to remote villages, ensuring that children as young as 14 months receive essential care at their doorsteps. Beyond therapy, the initiative educates communities on early detection and intervention of disabilities using an in-built projector. Recognized internationally, the program received the UN's Zero Project Award in 2022 for its innovative approach to accessibility.

  • District Early Intervention Center

    The District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) in Kullu, a collaborative initiative between the Samphia Foundation and the Regional Hospital Kullu under the National Health Mission's Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), focuses on the early identification and intervention for children aged 0–18 years with developmental delays, disabilities, and health conditions. Employing a multidisciplinary team—including pediatricians, therapists, psychologists, and special educators—the center provides comprehensive services such as screening, diagnosis, therapy, and parental counseling. By emphasizing early intervention, DEIC aims to enhance developmental outcomes and promote inclusive health care in Himachal Pradesh.
