Badlav Foundation took shape when the founder observed the sorry state of beggars on the streets of Lucknow who begged for money and and then used it Read moreto buy intoxicants and drugs. Its purpose was to get the beggars out of this downtrodden way of living and transform them into dignified, contributing members of the society. It operates the “Bhikshavritti Mukti Abhiyaan”, an initiative which aims to transform the lives of beggars and bring constructive development in society. People who beg for existence place a heavy burden on humanity since their productive potential is lost. Badlav provides psychological support and counselling to the beggars who are brought to the centre. The beggars are motivated to come out of trauma, de-addiction sessions are held to help them get rid of dependence on drugs. Their families are searched for and are also counselled if required to accept them, id proofs such as Aadhar, Pan card and Bank accounts are provided to give them an identity and dignity. The beneficiaries are given training as per their interests to enable them to lead a productive life earning an income and sustaining themselves. It also provides assistance and consultation to rehabilitated individuals who want to start an initiative of their own and contribute to the economic development of the country. Through “Bal Jeewanshala” the Foundation tries to help children who are into begging. It motivates the children to join the mainstream by introducing them to education. The children are involved in creative activities which bring out joy of learning in them. Sessions are conducted to make them aware and identify their talents which would help them become better and contributing citizens to the society. It promotes the idea of leadership among youth by bringing them together and creating awareness about important issues troubling the country and come up with solutions for the same. It tries to make the youth aware about sustainable development goals and fundamental rights as defined in the Indian constitution to bring them closer to reality. The youth are encouraged to take part in community improvement activities and strive to work together to bring about positive social change. During the peak of the pandemic the foundation was involved in helping daily wage workers, transgenders, rickshaw pullers, homeless people and beggars by operating a kitchen serving basic and nutritious food to them. It also distributed kits containing daily essentials and sanitary aids to the underprivileged. Health care services like teleconsultation, door to door vaccination and ambulance services were initiated to serve the needy. Partnering with social organisation Goonj, It organised community level development work involving people who were jobless due to the pandemic and also provided artisans with raw material and assistance to start their trades afresh.

  • Bal Jeewanshala

    In the initiative called Bal Jeewanshala, over 326 individuals have been mobilized to depart from child beggary, with 146 children successfully transitioning from begging and being enrolled in school. Additionally, the program has identified and nurtured the hidden talents of 76 children, providing them with opportunities for personal and academic growth. This initiative focuses on rescuing children from the streets, providing them with educational opportunities, and fostering their talents, thereby enabling them to build a brighter future beyond the hardships of begging.

  • Covid 19 - Relief and Rehabilitation

    In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, comprehensive relief and rehabilitation efforts have been implemented, targeting various critical areas. Relief initiatives addressed hunger by distributing over 59,350 food packets and dry ration kits to vulnerable groups, while healthcare support included tele-consultations, ambulance services, vaccinations, and provision of safety kits to over 10,127 individuals. Recovery efforts focused on promoting collective wellbeing among 187 people, while rehabilitation initiatives supported the livelihoods of 294 individuals and facilitated the establishment of micro-businesses. Community-led projects involved the repair of 2 kilometers of roads, renovation of a 60,000 square foot park, and refurbishment of a shelter home for the homeless, collectively contributing to the resilience and rehabilitation of communities affected by the pandemic.
