It operates a food supply chain wherein grains like Millet, buckwheat, Ragi, flaxseeds, amaranth, barley, coffee grown locally are procured and rural women are employed to make healthy snacks like cookies, crackers and biscuits from these grains which are then sold in the market. It goes ahead to share fifty percent share of Its revenue with the twenty thousand odd small farmers It works with across three states of India empowering them and giving them an equal share in prosperity. It also arranges with banks to provide small loans to farmers who grow carefully selected crops which go towards making of Its products, encouraging local women to become entrepreneurs in food manufacturing and revive the use of indigenous food grains through using them in innovative food products. It has managed to touch the lives of thirty thousand women through partnerships with rural women self-help groups and credit co-operative societies. Fifteen thousand farmers have had a hundred percent increase in income due to the market opportunities Happy Roots created. An estimated 2.8 million dollars of credit has been disbursed in two states in India through Its interventions. For Its efforts, Happy Roots has been recognised and awarded by many national and international bodies like The Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Forbes, Business Today, Deutsche Welle, Government of Maharastra, World Bank and British Asian Trust.
