Since
2008
Nirmaan was founded in 2008 as a response to the realisation that a number of communities, who spoke their own unique languages were being marginalise Read mored. Although information of these communities was sometimes featured within the public sphere, it was evident that little was being done to empower them. Therefore, Nirmaan undertook research among a few of these language communities and noticed a pattern - when a community’s language is different from that of the state language, their development is generally limited. We also found that they were often segregated from the mainstream of society. They had also developed an attitude of dependence on various government schemes and policies for their continued sustenance. While engaged in research, we were constantly challenged by members of such communities to help them develop. They were vocal in expressing their situation by showing us the difficulties they had in securing their daily needs, obtaining quality education and maintaining a holistic lifestyle. We realised that the key to their development lay within their language; a tool that shaped their world view and culture. We could employ this tool to ensure and empower their development. Our Vision: A just and equal society where marginalised language communities realise their fullest potential. Our Mission: To assist marginalised language communities in securing a wholistic, dignified and self-sustainable quality of life, by empowering their development.

LITERACY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH MOTHER TONGUE
Working with communities that speak distinctive languages other than the officially acknowledged state languages is something that Nirmaan does. These languages are frequently stigmatised as "kutcha languages," have underdeveloped literature, and their speakers are ostracised. Nirmaan helps these communities establish their credibility by:
1. Writing scripts that are acceptable to culture and science
2. Recording grammatical and other norms in the language 3. Developing resources in their native tongues to promote adult and juvenile literacy
4. Setting up seminars and promoting broader language usage
5. Disseminating various reading resources in their respective languagesNirmaan empowers the community to continue the growth and development of their language, which is the centre of their culture, by working with them in these and other ways.

SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH AGRICULTURE
In every community that Nirmaan works with, agriculture is the primary source of revenue and nutrition. They can incorporate sustainability into their agricultural methods in three main ways.
1. Improved agricultural yields thanks to modern farming techniques and methods
2. Getting funding for farming and avoiding debt.
3. A better market for a competitive price.Nirmaan concentrates on enhancing these abilities in farmers to increase their yields.
