Stree Mukti Sanghatana works towards women empowerment. Its efforts include a play called 'Mulgi Zali Ho', which means “Girl is born”, family counsell Read moreing centres, programmes for adolescents, day care centres, programmes for waste pickers and solid waste management to provide sustainable livelihoods to women. It has received many awards in recognition of its service towards the upliftment of women, the latest being the “Amhi Udyogini Puraskar” in 2018, the “Nari Shakti Puraskar” in 2016 and felicitated by the Clinton Global Foundation for global initiative in 2010. The organisation started its work during the international year for women and has been running since then to address issues of injustice.

Family Counselling Centres
Its Family Counselling Centers (FCCs) provide counselling services to the community regardless of factors such as religion, caste, or gender. It has a set-up of qualified counsellors who help individuals facing domestic violence in its various forms and aims to prevent such violence from occurring. The organisation offers various support services to victims of domestic violence and works towards raising awareness about the issue.

It started day care centres in 1987 after conducting a survey and signature campaign, recognizing the need for childcare services for working mothers. The centres provide a safe and secure environment for children and offer developmental support. The organisation's day care centres are recognised by various entities, including corporate, semi-government, and Government bodies. It also offers one-day care services at its centres.

Jidnyasa Programme
Jidnyasa is designed to address crucial issues that are often overlooked in the current education system for adolescents. The programme has six modules and is taught by skilled communicators using novel teaching methods. It aims to promote awareness, knowledge, rational thinking and positive behaviour among adolescents and is based on gender justice principles, also available in book and Braille form.

Parisar Vikas Programme
This programme, launched by the organisation in Mumbai, aims to address waste management issues through awareness, training, and self-reliance for waste pickers. It provides financial assistance for education, health, housing, and family functions, and offers waste management solutions such as composting, bio-methanation, and recycling. Waste pickers are organised into self-help groups and cooperatives to facilitate work opportunities.

Multi Activity Centre
Is a building that has been developed keeping the environment in view. It is built using solar panels, has terrace gardens and rain harvesting facilities, and generates its own fuel in the form of bio-gas. It is highlighted as an example of a nature-friendly and responsible structure. The building houses its day care centre, library, training centre and family counselling centre.
