Shivani Welfare Foundation is formed & registered on 9th November 2020 as a Charitable Trust with a mission to permanently uplift the lives of Read more underprivileged children primarily through quality education . The trust has also been allowed exemptions under Sections: 12A & 80G of the Income Tax Act. About The Founder Trustee: Ms Shalini Sadavarti is BE, PG Diploma in Financial Management & CFA (ICFAI) by qualifications & has more than 25 years of working with Government Organisation & Corporates in Key Managerial positions.  Present Status of Trust’s work: At present we are working for children of migrant/ Construction workers & poor villagers in and around Village Bisrakh, Sector-1, Greater Noida West, Gautam Buddh Nagar, UP-201306. At present, about 600 children are registered with us and more are approaching on daily basis. We provide them education and other basic facilities according to need. All necessary items to facilitate education such as stationery items, books, worksheets etc. are provided free of cost to all the students. Apart from this we also provide Milk+Ragi sattu with every morning and Lunch on Sundays to all the children.   Our Modus Operandi: Whenever a child/ parent approaches us, we ask them to submit a duly filled & signed application form along with required documents & photographs. We then register the child & allot section after screening them through prescribed tests. Identity cards & other necessary initial items are then issued to the child & education is thus provided according to the initial knowledge level of the child & is reviewed on a quarterly basis. The volunteers are onboarded after interviewing & submitting of duly filled & signed application form. The honorarium is paid to the volunteers on the basis of their qualifications, responsibilities & need. Successful Donation Drives : In the month of November 2020, when the temperature suddenly started dropping & we saw that these kids were not having sufficient clothes to even cover their bodies, we felt the need to run a donation drive for old woollens/other clothes & footwear for the kids. We received tremendous response & collected woollens/clothes/footwear from various societies. These clothes were sorted & distributed & we could provide woollens & other clothes to all the kids associated with us. People also purchased & donated new woollen caps, socks, sweaters & leggings which were distributed to the neediest. This way, we could save the children from extreme & prolonged winter starting from November 2020. Value Education: In order to build a proper value system in these kids, we start the class with prayer & meditation. We then share thought for the day/ Moral Story/ Kabir-Rahim ‘s dohe etc. & explain them to them. Any indiscipline is taken seriously and children are counselled & if required we involve their parents also. There is significant positive change observed in the behaviours of these kids & we are hopeful that they will grow up as responsible citizens. Encouraging Patriotism: We also encourage patriotism in these children. In order to give a boost to this, we celebrated Republic Day function on & Independence Day. In the event, we also invite people actively associated with the trust, allied senior members from the nearby Societies & parents of children to attend the event & encourage children. Online Class Facility : There are various people across the globe, who wish to guide & teach these children. In order to bridge the distance between them, we took a room on rent & fixed 43” LED TV received in a donation for this purpose. We connected TV with Laptop & are now able to connect excellent teachers from anywhere in the world to these children. Library Facility: In order to inculcate a habit of reading good books in these children, we have started a library facility for the children. The collection of books is mostly donated and some purchased by the trust. The Library has reference books for teachers as well. Prospects: Village Bisrakh is adjoining to National Capital, but still it is suffering from the curse of illiteracy for generations. It seems to be the Tip of the iceberg, there would be villages in interiors with even more precarious situations. We intend to reach out to those villages pan India in future. On discussion with the families of the children associated with us, it was realised that poverty and thus the stress of earning livelihood leads to involvement of these kids in helping their parents in fulfilling basic needs of the family & dropping out from studies. We, therefore, have also started working with Women of the village for their Skill Development & Financial Independence. We would like to take this work forward.  Challenges: It is well known that finance is the lifeblood of any organization. Our present expenses include daily milk + Weekly meals, school bags, water bottles books/notebooks/worksheets & stationery items for the children, honorarium to volunteers etc. and amounts to more than Rs1 Lac per month. Also, at present, we are teaching the kids in open space and hence are subject to vagaries of weather. We not only adjust the timing of classes as per the weather but also face complete disruption due to rains. Thus for more stability, we need to have either rented rooms or our own classrooms. This also requires financial investments & we are not even able to consider it due to a lack of financial resources. And our endeavour to work for skill development & income level enhancement for Women will also need some more financial resources. Appeal: We earnestly request able citizens & Corporates to come forward and join hands with us in this herculean task of eliminating the curse of illiteracy from the entire country and building good citizens. Our young population can be our great asset if their energies are given the right direction in this malleable state. Let’s come forward to build these lives & thus a great nation!
