Programs

  • Education Programme

In its pursuit of promoting the fundamental right to education for every child, the organisation collaborates with Government and private schools in Hyderabad's slums. It addresses the lack of Government schools and aims to bridge the gap in completion rates by assisting children to complete at least class X. Through initiatives like Project Disha, Project Shiksha, Project Kaushal, Project Samatha, and Project Buniyaad, it strives to provide affordable education, computer skills training, and sensitization on gender issues to empower marginalized children and adults.

  • Project Milan

This is one of Kriti's flagship programs and under this program Kriti gives free vocational training to over 600 women every year in different slums in Hyderabad city. The main areas of vocational training are tailoring, beautician, hand embroidery and mehendi designing.

Independent training centres are set up in the slums with the required infrastructure and batches are enrolled in the programs. Each batch of tailoring or beautician training is a four month course. Students are given a range of technical training, theory training and soft skills training to give them a round education and help them to be job ready. Those ladies who are interested in entrepreneurship training are also given additional training and linked with organisations giving soft loans.

  • Project Kaushal

Basic computer literacy is a key requirement for youth to be able enter into the formal work force. While children and young adults living in urban slums have access to smart mobile phones, they have very limited access to desktop computers and laptops. To bridge this gap between the need for basic computer literacy in the youth and their limited access to computers and training on how to use them, Kriti has started computer labs in five government high schools in Hyderabad.

Children from class VI to class IX are receiving structured lessons on introduction to computers, use of programs such as Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint, understanding programming logic and basic programming softwares like scratch and other topics. These classes are not just building computer literacy, but also helping children learn to search for, assimilate and present information as they work on a number of projects to help them build their powerpoint and excel skills.
