Summary- Children aged 7–13 are in a critical developmental stage characterized by rapid cognitive, emotional, and social growth. Understanding and addressing their mental health needs during this period is essential for fostering resilience and well-being. Through this project, we aim to improve the psychosocial well-being of children living in poverty who have limited access to mental health care. The project aims to deliver innovative, art-based therapy to children at risk.
Target Beneficiaries-Youth (17–20-year age group) from marginalized and lower socioeconomic communities in Noida.
Goal -To improve the psychosocial well-being of children living in poverty by providing innovative art-based therapy.
Rationale- Children living in poverty are often exposed to a range of stressors that can negatively impact their development and mental health. These stressors can affect cognitive, emotional, and social development, leading to long-term consequences.
The adversities they encounter significantly shape their experiences, compelling us to address these critical issues with urgency and compassion. It is critical that children have the tools and platforms they need to express and understand their feelings, as well as make sense of confusing emotions that are often difficult to articulate. Art therapy has proven to be extremely beneficial for children, improving their quality of life, self-esteem, and overall social, emotional, and psychological health.Sessions will enhance self-expression and help children communicate thoughts and feelings, improving social interactions and relationships with peers and adults. Creative activities will foster self-awareness, encouraging personal growth and a stronger sense of agency. And achieving creative goals boosts self-esteem by providing a sense of accomplishment and confidence.

Impact
My Perch has made a profound impact on the lives of numerous children, witnessing revolutionary outcomes. Many of our program alumni have since blossomed into accomplished artists, pursuing careers as full-time musicians, artists, and chefs. My Perch proudly owns its own community band and an art and craft shop, both thriving under the management and ownership of our talented former participants. Driven by their demonstrable success in their initial location, My Perch is committed to expand their impact by reaching out to even more at-risk youth. Our vision transcends individual achievements; we aspire to collaborate with other NGOs and institutions, extending our workshops to youth residing across various slum communities. Through our efforts as a collective, we aim to replicate the transformative power of creative engagement, encouraging more young individuals to unlock their potential and forge resilient futures.
Vision and Mission
My Perch's mission is to promote mental wellbeing and foster resilience in underprivileged children and youth through creative engagement and self-expression in a supportive environment.
