Since
2018
Sanjhi Sikhiya began in August 2017 with a group of dedicated individuals who shared a vision of a prosperous Punjab. Recognizing that education alone Read more was not enough to address the challenges faced by the community, it expanded its focus to encompass issues such as substance abuse, water pollution, soil degradation, and youth migration. It observed that existing interventions were often disconnected and treated symptoms rather than tackling the root causes of these problems. During its journey, it encountered inspiring young people who had first-hand experience of these challenges and were determined to make a positive difference. These resilient individuals chose not to migrate or succumb to drug addiction, instead becoming leaders who initiated grassroots efforts to shape the society they wished to live in. Encouraged by their spirit, Sanjhi Sikhiya, with the support of the district administration, initiated its work in Fatehgarh Sahib in 2018. Through direct engagement with primary schools and the development of a Cluster Transformation Approach, it aimed to enhance governance and learning processes. Additionally, a cohort of ten young leaders joined the organisation, turning their initial idea into a reality known as the Punjab Youth Leadership Programme (PYLP), with a long-term vision spanning three decades for the future of Punjab.
Action
Sanjhi Sikhiya implements the Cluster Transformation Program through young leaders who join the Punjab Youth Leaders Program (PYLP), working directly with government primary schools to improve learning outcomes, form teacher collectives, drive community ownership, and strengthen local governance.
