Aftertaste is an organisation with a vision to empower women from economically disadvantaged communities in Mumbai, India. The slums of Mumbai are abo Read moreund with men, women and children struggling with poverty, unstable incomes and poor infrastructure. The organisation aims to break the cycle of social and economic poverty by providing opportunities for knowledge, exposure, and economic means. Initially focusing on economic empowerment through art and craft, Aftertaste trains and enables marginalized women to earn a dignified livelihood. The organisation features an online platform selling products created by these women artisans. Aftertaste works with these women and their families to bring about social change.

Aftertaste has impacted leading to an increase in income by 60 to 100% for all families, consequently doubling of expenditure on education and an encouraging 87% of children now attending school or college, empowering women by enabling 100% of them to access their bank accounts through ATM cards and utilize their phones to benefit from various schemes and subsidies, enabling the adoption of digital payment platforms which has become a norm for every family, promoting cashless transactions, empowering 100% of women to gain enhanced control over financial resources and decision-making capabilities, helping debt repayment to reach an impressive 90% among families, while the provision of gas connections has reached 100% of women, 65% of women have successfully rebuilt their homes.
