National Society For Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped, India popularly known by the acronym NASEOH India is a NGO founded in 1968 with the init Read moreiative and leadership of the famous Cricketer and the philanthropist late Shri Vijay Merchant. The range of services aimed at providing a comprehensive need based rehabilitation support to the people with disabilities include health and prevention, early intervention, education and vocational training, community based rehabilitation of the rural disabled, employment & income generation options, physical restorative services, advocacy & awareness. By design NASEOH Extends this support to the poorest of poor amongst the disabled free of any charges. The focus area of the programs is to build capacities of adult disabled in the age group of 18 to 35 years with appropriate vocational skill development and to prepare them to access employment and income generation options on equal terms. On an average NASEOH extend the various interventions to around 6000 people with disabilities directly every year, with its need based multiple interventions.

Vocational Skill Development Of Persons With Disabilities In The Age Group Of 18 To 40 Years
StateRecognised courses free of cost are provided to both educated and uneducated differently abled. The Centre provides Occupation skills in both traditional trades as well as in IT enabled programs. The objective of this centre is to equip the differently abled for an easy transfer to the main stream. Training is provided on a simulative condition.

Milestones & Track Record
Net Working
As an apex body, initiated co-ordination between the institutions, National & International Bodies; secured funds & resources from various sources; petitioned Central & State Governments on policy matters; identified & secured job work distributed to various institutions; co-ordinated placement services and placed the disabled on jobs; provided financial support to the disabled for education; started publishing NASEOH NEWS creating awareness on the problems and issues concerning the differently abled, enabled enhancement of locally available facilities and efforts made on their behalf.
Conferences :
To evolve a clear policy at a National Level and to strengthen the work for the differently abled, to promote equal opportunities, better social order and economic justice, NASEOH convened All India Level Conferences, Seminars and workshops in Mumbai. Planners, Policy Makers, Administrators, Social Workers, Disabled and Rehabilitation Professionals congregated and proposed plan of action to Government of India, Ministry of Social Welfare for further action.
Awareness Amongst Stakeholders :
World Disabled Day, since 1970 has been used as a platform to create and educate all stakeholders on the abilities of the disabled. Sports, exhibitions, radio talks, Media write-ups highlighted the talents of the differently abled. Rallies and floats were used to bring the awareness.

Godrej & Boyce Mfg. co. Ltd.- has been supporting NASEOH for the Vocational Training activities since last 4 yrs. This has helped us to sustain one of our core activity of building vocational skill abilities of the adult persons with disabilities.
Colgate Global business Services Pvt. Ltd has helped us with a large grant for providing assistive mobility devices to the locomotor disabled both for the urban and rural areas over a period of 2 years which has helped us to meet the mobility needs of more than 500 persons with disabilities.
Jacobs Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. has financially supported us over a period of more than 5 years to rehabilitate rural persons with disabilities in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra with provision for livelihood options for the rural persons with disabilities.
S.H.Kelkar & Co. (Keva) has been partnering with us for multiple rehabilitation initiatives like Assistive mobility devices, vocational training, strengthening the infrastructure at our rehabilitation Centre etc.
Fuchs Lubricants (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been supporting NASEOH for providing the assistive mobility devices to persons with disabilities in and around Mumbai and also with computers and accessories for the training of persons with disabilities in computer skills.
