PFA has a trained rescue team, authorised by the Karnataka forest department to carry out animal recuses. The Team is available on call 24x7, all throughout the year, using varied means to rescue animals depending on the species. To report a rescue, individuals can contact the organisation via phone or email, providing details of the situation and location. People for Animals rescues around 150 animals per month on average, including endangered, migratory, and endemic species. The rescued animals encompass a variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles.

Its wildlife hospital is manned by trained veterinarians, nursing staff and welfare officers, and is supported by amenities like an ICU, X-ray facility, surgery unit and quarantine unit. The team relies on rescuer reports, professional judgment, and experience to determine the cause of injuries and provide appropriate treatment. It has performed various procedures, including surgeries, to treat wounds, abscesses, burns, and fractures in animals such as turtles, macaques, terrapins, and monitor lizards. Animals are examined, and those displaced or orphaned receive nutrition and care to restore their well-being. The hospital also conducts post-mortem assessments to understand the cause of death and improve its practices as a centre of excellence.

PFA has rehabilitation centres, designed to re-integrate displaced animals into their original habitats. Veterinarians, animal ethologists, and caregivers work together to successfully rehabilitate the animal. Rehabilitation strategies vary based on species and condition, with key aspects including minimizing human interaction, providing a diet similar to their natural food sources, enhancing hunting instincts, and creating enclosures that simulate natural conditions. The centre has specialized enclosures for different species, including aviaries, reptile enclosures, primate treatment areas, and curated habitats for small mammals. 3 in 4 animals rescued are released. Release locations are selected depending on habitat type, population density, environment and unnatural threats.

The PFA Pet Cemetery is a facility that provides pet owners with a dedicated place to honour the connection they had with their pets. PFA strives to offer a seamless and meaningful burial process for pets. The cemetery operates round the clock, offering a respectful and eco-friendly burial experience where pets can rest in the company of other cherished animals and the urban wildlife under PFA's care.

The WildOne series is an educational programme aimed at children, offering a comprehensive understanding of environmental awareness and conservation. Through storytelling, films, games, and physical activities, it encourages children to recognize their role in nurturing nature and actively participate in conservation efforts. The series promotes sustainable lifestyle choices, fostering a sense of care and responsibility for nature, enhancing cognitive and analytical skills, connects various fields of science. It also introduces promising career options and encourages outdoor activities during weekends and school holidays. The series consists of nine modules designed for junior and high school kids. Each module is 30-40 minutes long, covering topics such as urban wildlife, ecosystems, wildlife tracking, and human-wildlife conflict. The programme also includes field trips, allowing students to have firsthand experiences and deepen their understanding of the concepts taught.
