EquiDiversity Foundation, a feminist civil society organisation, has been operating in South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, and Purulia districts since 2016. T Read morehe Foundation strives for gender equality, with a particular focus on inclusive participation in governance and decision-making, while championing diversity. Its vision is a society free from gender-based violence, where power is shared equally. It aims to bring about systemic change by promoting gender inclusivity and participation in rural governance. Through its work, it aims to establish a supply chain of empowered women leaders who can effectively govern and increase demand for such leaders. It works to foster an environment that empowers individuals, especially women and girls, through political, social, and financial means. The foundation collaborates with like-minded groups and institutions to advance its programmes, which include strengthening women's participation in local self-governance, promoting social entrepreneurship, supporting women's economic empowerment, and nurturing children's autonomy and leadership. Additionally, it strives to build resilient communities capable of withstanding natural disasters and pandemics.

Women Empowerment Programme
EquiDiversity Foundation encourages women to actively participate and lead in local governance (Panchayat), emphasizing women's issues. It promotes shared leadership to discourage proxy representation and empower women elected representatives (WER) through workshops and support programmes, fostering confidence and inclusive leadership. Its efforts have resulted in increased confidence and self-esteem among WERs, improved voter engagement, and continued advocacy for women's rights by WERs who were not nominated by political parties in the previous election.

Child Protection Programme
The Foundation implements the Child Parliament model to promote child participation, leadership, and life skills development, including self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and emotional well-being. It also works towards activating and sensitizing Village Level Child Protection Committees (VLCPC) to safeguard child rights and ensure child protection. Its objectives involve enhancing children's capacities, empowering them to voice their opinions and address relevant issues, while also creating an improved ecosystem within institutions like primary schools, families, and local Gram Panchayats to support child development and protection.

Gender Equality Programme
The Foundation works with adolescent girls to address issues such as child marriage, trafficking, gender discrimination, and violence. It establishes "Samhita Clubs," providing a safe space for girls facing vulnerability due to their gender and socio-economic conditions. These clubs promote critical dialogues, information sharing, and mutual support. Additionally, the Foundation aims to engage boys and men in challenging gender norms, promoting gender equality, and ending violence against women. It seeks to create inclusive ecosystems, empower women leaders, and strengthen community-based systems to uphold the rights of marginalized groups.

Livelihood Creation Programme
Rural women globally face persistent inequalities and limited access to resources, markets, knowledge, and services. Economic empowerment is crucial for social activism. The organisation also focuses on enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of Nari Jagaran Committee members. Its goals include improving livelihood opportunities, developing women's skills, promoting sustainable livelihoods, increasing access to assets, and empowering women community leaders for political inclusion and support for their livelihood activities.

Disaster Relief & Rebuilding Programme
Over 6,000 women and their families received relief assistance including dry ration, housing materials, and menstrual hygiene products. Additionally, more than 250 women survivors of violence and vulnerable children were provided with repeated ration support. Local volunteers and members of the Nari Jagaran Committee played a crucial role in the relief distribution process. Awareness campaigns on COVID-19 and gender issues were conducted through public camps, door-to-door campaigns, and banners. Test camps, community kitchens, medical support, vaccination drives, and mental health support were also provided to the community.
