ASPIRe, an initiative by Ashoka, explores how social entrepreneurs can create systemic impact by utilizing platform thinking and technology. The aim i Read mores to develop knowledge on how technology can help scale the impact of social entrepreneurs to improve the lives of millions. At ASPIRe, it believes, through platform thinking, social impact can be expanded by inspiring co-creation, directing ecosystems, and using open technology. Platforms, as a model of organising, have the possibility to bring about at-scale system change in the citizen sector. Platforms, for ASPIRe, are not a mere piece of technology (an app or website), they are an entire model that facilitates meaning exchange of knowledge between groups. ASPIRe serves as an accelerator, supporting Ashoka Fellows in developing a systemic view of a problem and implementing design principles to create a shared infrastructure for solving it. Fellows receive support from technology, strategy, design, and ecosystem experts to personalize the programme and achieve increased impact. The use of data is leveraged to track progress, learn, and make adjustments.

Leveraging Platforms for the Good of All
The paper “Leveraging Platforms for the Good of All” presents research on 14 innovative platforms led by Ashoka Fellows worldwide in vital sectors like education, health, and finance. Through extensive analysis of their models and in-depth interviews, the study identifies nine fundamental design principles that govern the behaviour of platforms for social good. These principles foster holistic impact by facilitating value exchanges among interconnected groups.
Milestones & Track Record
ASPIRe selected 33 Ashoka Fellows for its first cohort and onboarded over 40 leaders as Mission Allies, who provided thousands of hours in pro-bono support.
