The SBI-JLG Project (Joint Liability Groups) is a collaborative initiative between the STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI) and support from NABARD. The project focuses on the latest nature of JLGs, which is a lending model facilitating groups of individuals (usually four) to obtain loans for income-generating activities in farming and non-farming sectors. Within a JLG, members mutually guarantee each other's loans, allowing them to collectively access financing. This structure ensures shared liability among group members (4 women/men), promoting repayment accountability. The project operates in two SBI circles, Delhi and Chandigarh, covering a total of 11 districts in Haryana. The agency has successfully established over 1000 JLGs, enabling savings and credit linkage through the SBI-JLG project in both Delhi and Chandigarh circles.
