At the grassroots level, there exists a lack of awareness among the underprivileged about the lethality of cardiac diseases. Hearts for Hearts (H4H) a Read moreddresses this issue by conducting camps, receiving referrals, or direct outreach. The dedicated volunteers establish connections over time. Children, along with their parents, or adults accompanied by an attendant, are transported to Udhavum Karangal, an NGO near Chennai, where they are accommodated. Surgeries are carefully performed following thorough preparation. During the preparation phase, both the Udhavum Karangal team and the H4H team collaborate closely, ensuring careful observation and necessary actions for the children. The surgical procedures are conducted at the Public Health Centre (PHC), which boasts effective infrastructure for delivering quality care. Proficient post-operative care is provided in the ward. Afterward, the patient goes through extended care for an additional week. Once operated individuals have returned to their homes, they are periodically reviewed. A comprehensive study is conducted to analyze the impact of surgery on cardiac function, individuals, families, and society. Partnering with other NGOs aids in facilitating education and career opportunities for the beneficiaries. The entire cost is covered through Multi-Source Funding, including the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) and other funders. To ensure continuous improvement, the knowledge and skills of the entire team are consistently upgraded through interactions with various national and international cardiac centers.

The vision of H4H is to ensure that no child is denied a heart surgery due to financial constraints. Their mission is to provide hope and healing to children with congenital heart defects through financial support and awareness.

H4H has supported over 1200 heart surgeries and expanded its reach to multiple states in India over the past 15+ years.
