Commit 2 Change (C2C) is dedicated to empowering vulnerable girls in India and South Asia through tailored programmes that equip them with crucial edu Read morecation and life skills. Recognizing that many of these girls face extreme hardships due to poverty or gender discrimination, C2C focuses on fostering self-confidence, coping with trauma, and instilling essential life skills. Its programmes, such as Adaptive Education, Digital Technology Education, Peer-to-Peer Mentorship, and Mental Wellness initiatives, aim to empower girls with the tools they need for a brighter future. C2C envisions a transformed life trajectory for these girls, breaking cycles of hardship and discrimination while preparing them for success in a modern economy. C2C's approach is grounded in the understanding that orphaned girls are particularly vulnerable, often abandoned due to societal biases and inequities. The organisation aims to interrupt the cycle of sex trafficking, early marriage, and indentured servitude by providing education and self-confidence to girls in orphanages. With a focus on secondary education, C2C recognizes that this critical stage is where girls often drop out and where intervention can have the most significant impact. By offering not only education but also access to essentials like school supplies, qualified teachers, nutrition, and healthcare, C2C seeks to equip girls with the tools needed to excel academically and become agents of positive change in their communities. The organisation's work is guided by compelling statistics that show educated girls marry later, have fewer children, earn higher wages, and invest more in their families.

    State

COMMIT2CHANGE operates the C2C Tech Lab and equips young girls with essential coding and entrepreneurial skills through advanced technology training. It fosters leadership, problem-solving, and ambitions, originally inspired by Nawneet Ranjan's efforts in major slums. This IT curriculum breaks the poverty cycle by uniting girls and offering future job opportunities, benefitting families and communities. Around 82% of girls develop a stronger interest in education, 83% aim to graduate high school, and nearly all express enthusiasm for STEM fields. The Tech Lab also boosts confidence and maturity, as noted by teachers.

  • Tutoring Programme

    District
    State

The organization COMMIT2CHANGE introduced the Tutoring Programme in 2013, aiming to support girls in continuing their education beyond the 10th grade, a pivotal point for their academic journey. These girls come from deeply marginalized backgrounds, having faced distressing experiences of abuse, prostitution, rape, and poverty. These traumatic circumstances often lead to depression and hinder their access to education. Many struggle with illiteracy or lag behind in their studies. The programme addresses this by providing proficient tutors in English, Science, and Math. Despite the challenges they encounter, these tutors help the girls unlock their remarkable academic potential and bridge the learning gap. The results are promising: an impressive 98% of the girls benefiting from the tutoring programme sustain enrollment in secondary school or college.
