CAPED is a community outreach organization dedicated to cervical cancer prevention and early detection since 2014. We collaborate with District/State Read moreHealth Departments in Punjab, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Our advocacy efforts aim to influence national policy for broader access to cervical cancer prevention. We have strategic partnerships with global organizations such as the American Cancer Society (ACS), Cervical Cancer Action for Elimination (CCAE) Network, and Australia Centre for Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC), as well as local healthcare institutions like NICPR, AIIMS, Delhi Cancer Hospital, Gurugram Civil Hospital, Ramakrishna Charitable Hospital (Vrindavan), and Path Sanjivani Charitable Trust. Our initiatives are supported by corporates including Indraprastha Gas Limited, BMW Foundation, Birlasoft, Cvent, AstraZeneca, CAF, Safexpress, Tata 1mg, DSS, among others.

Issue

CAPED focuses on cervical cancer, which is the 4th most common cancer worldwide. In 2020, 21% of global cervical cancer cases were reported in India. Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among Indian women, affecting 45.3 crore (453 million) women aged 21 and older. Every 8 minutes, an Indian woman dies from cervical cancer. Without intervention, 57.75 lakh (5.77 million) women in India could die from cervical cancer by 2070. Despite being 93% preventable and having a 5-year survival rate of over 90% when detected early, India still accounts for 21% of the world's cervical cancer cases.
