STEP Foundation impacts 250 underprivileged children in 10 different locations in Mumbai Slums. Government-run schools in India are stretched for resources and manpower, leading to poor instructional quality, low learning outcomes and a dropout rate of 90% by high school. STEP Foundation addresses these lacunae by conducting free, high-quality tutoring classes at 20 Learning Centers across India. Thanks to individualized attention, children receive the help and confidence to excel in their classrooms. While enrollment in government BMC schools in India is high, quality of education is a huge problem. Substandard teaching and lack of personal attention lead to an inability to cope with the curriculum.
