Most of the disabled are illiterate and unskilled. They are dependent on their parents or guardians. TNDFC identifies those people by conducting identification workshops and providing entrepreneurial skill training to run small vending businesses like petty shops, bunk shops, mobile carts, tailoring shops, etc., and to earn at least Rs. 500 per day, which leads to an independent and dignified life.
After successful completion of training, TNDFCT provides bunk shops costing up to Rs. 1 lakh and up to Rs. 50, 000 in working capital assistance to establish small shops. TNDFCT will continuously monitor handholding for 24 months and support them in running the business successfully. More than 250 such shops are successfully operating.

The main problem for employability of disabled women is they do not get formal education. The reasons are their inherent mobility problem, social inclusion, gender bias, affordability of parents in providing special transportation, inability to move from home town for the purpose of employment.

In the above context, it is almost impossible to place more than 10% of disabled women on jobs. Disabled women without job have to be dependent on their family members. Thus they are forced to lead a miserable life without any dignity or self respect. So, it is essential to think of alternative methods of livelihood suitable for disabled. This project aims to provide livelihood opportunities by providing Idly, Dosa Maavu Mill. Suitable training will also be imparted to equip with the skills to run the shop successfully.
