Service Initiative for Voluntary Action (SIVA) Trust was established in the year 1994 by a team of committed and socially concerned volunteers who wer Read moree individually doing social service activities. Having realized the importance of collective efforts and legal recognition, they came forward jointly to promote SIVA Trust for the development of the deprived and downtrodden people in the Tirunelveli district.  SIVA Trust was incorporated as a Trust under the Indian Trusts Act in the same year. The organisation is concentrating on developmental activities towards the rural and semi-urban people for their socio-economic, health and education status improvement in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Coimbatore and Krishnagiri districts of Tamil Nadu in India through its various development programs. From the year 2017, it has taken up a project for the land rights and agricultural development of the hill tribes throughout Tamil Nadu, with Project Office at Coimbatore. The target people of the SIVA Trust comprise of all sections of downtrodden people including the most deprived Arunthathiar community (usually engaged in scavenging work) and also poor women and children of the rural areas in Tirunelveli district and the persons with disabilities and also the hill tribes throughout Tamil Nadu. The Trust operates and designs development programs with the following objectives:- Empowerment and socio-economic development of the downtrodden; Empowerment and sustained livelihood for poor women in rural and urban areas; Access to savings and credit for income generation of the poor women;  Quality education and skill development for children/youth; Improving the health status of women and children;  Creating awareness on HIV-AIDS and other contagious diseases; Democratizing Panchayats for local self-governance; Prevention and eradication of child labor; Prevention of child abuse and protection of Child rights; Getting land rights and agricultural development to hill tribes; Enabling an Inclusive society and getting all benefits from government agencies to the persons with disabilities; Working for good drinking water and better sanitation facilities in the rural areas and for the welfare of the labor engaged in this work.
