    States

    Maharashtra

To mark its 60 years of service, FWA launched the campaign "We care: Stop Elder Abuse." It is devoted to the neglected and abused elderly.

This silent problem is brought to light through participatory workshops, street dramas, and awareness posters held at public spaces, organisations, and educational institutions.

Every year on June 15, we observe World Elder Abuse Awareness Day as a way to raise awareness of the issue and foster support for senior citizens among all age groups.

FWA works to create local area elder watches, assist people who are being abused or exploited, and encourage the community to take proper preventative action.

  • Mental Health Programme

    States

    Maharashtra

Supports the mental health of senior citizens in the following ways:

Rehabilitation of mentally ill people in recovery: Daycare services offered include yoga, dance, animal-aided therapy, occupational therapy, and Bowen therapy. Participation in group activities involving cooking skills, recreation, and fitness. Counselling helps patients change their behaviour and enhances their relationships, self-esteem, control of anger, and personal hygiene.
Parents can discuss problems and challenges impacting mentally ill patients in a support group.
Psychiatric Outpatient Department (Cure Services) for mental health diagnosis and treatment.
Rehab patients are housed in a workshop where they receive vocational training to produce and market goods like notepads, candles, and cards at events and exhibitions.
Community mental health (preventive services) includes acknowledging World Mental Health Day and Sports Day, promoting public awareness and sensitization campaigns.
