The GOS Seva Samajam Children’s Home, a foundational part of the Guild of Service, holds a significant legacy in nurturing and educating disadvantaged Read more youngsters from challenging circumstances. Established in 1950 as a modest dwelling, it has grown into a prestigious establishment devoted to rehabilitating, educating, and empowering over 4000 impoverished children. Focused on ages 5 to 18, the home prioritises children's rights, ensuring they have access to necessities like nutritious food, clean water, healthcare, education, and a sanitary environment. Education takes place at the GOS Lady Nye Special Hr. Secondary School on-site, employing a comprehensive approach encompassing academic studies and extracurricular pursuits such as spoken English, robotics, arts, sports, and music. Upholding the Child Protection Policy, decisions concerning the children are made collectively, with regular health assessments and a well-balanced diet overseen by a paediatrician. The organisation extends support to children beyond Grade 12, facilitating scholarships, higher education, vocational training, and job placements, nurturing self-reliance and autonomy. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, including governmental and corporate bodies, GOS aims to cultivate self-sufficient, resourceful, and accountable individuals through sustainable welfare and developmental initiatives.

  • Leukaemia Project

    District

    The GOS Leukaemia Project aids children undergoing treatment for Leukaemia and other blood disorders at Government Children’s Hospital, Chennai. With 1000 children from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, mainly from low-income families, the project covers medicine, nutrition, diagnostics, and transport costs. Additionally, it provides treats, nutritional supplements, and essentials like bags and bed sheets monthly. The Sunshine Aftercare Centre offers free accommodation for children recovering from Bone Marrow Transplant, with counselling and skill-building activities for mothers. The project also improves hospital facilities and supports families holistically.

  • Meals On Wheels Programme

    District

    The Meals-on-Wheels project aims to address the nutritional, health, financial, and emotional needs of impoverished elderly individuals. Services include monthly provision of provisions and protein-rich supplements, along with clothing, bedding, medical coverage, and recreational outings. Free eye care screenings and cataract surgeries are also provided. Collaboration with HelpAge India has strengthened efforts over nearly three decades. The project operates a Day Care Centre providing shelter, meals, and activities for elders, while a Geriatric Health Centre offers medical care to around 300 patients regularly. Physiotherapy sessions and health education are also provided, with plans to resume recreational outings post-COVID-19.
