Discipleship Centre (DC), established in 1974, focuses on the sustainable development of marginalized communities across India. The organization has a strong history of providing Read moreimmediate relief during disasters, helping affected individuals rebuild their lives through need-based interventions. DC prioritizes the most underprivileged groups, particularly women, children, and the disabled, with a significant emphasis on water sanitation. Currently operating in Delhi, DC has constructed numerous houses and provided resources to tsunami-affected families in South India, while also offering vocational training in various skills to promote self-employment. A key aspect of DC's approach is capacity building among community leaders, enabling them to disseminate knowledge and advocate for their communities' needs after project completion. DC's Disaster Risk Reduction programs address challenges in flood-prone areas of Bihar and Orissa, and in drought-prone Rajasthan, traditional water harvesting methods have been revived, leading to increased agricultural yields and reduced poverty. Advocacy and networking with government agencies and NGOs enhance the effectiveness of DC's initiatives. Child education is integral to all programs, with non-formal literacy centers fostering holistic development and empowering girl children to break social norms. Women's empowerment initiatives have led to active participation in health advocacy and the formation of Self-Help Groups, enabling economic independence through village-based enterprises. DC also supports urban poor communities in Delhi, with women's groups ensuring program sustainability and providing skill training to enhance employment opportunities for women.
