Kannada Sangha

The Kannada Sangha Pune is a cultural organisation registered with the Charity Commissioner. The Kannada Sangha runs a group of educational institute Read mores under the banner of Kaveri Group of Institutes (KGI), a leading educational institute in Pune which has been serving the city for the last 56 years. KGI has its beginnings in “Karnatak High School” which was started overnight in 1963 for a group of 35 children of poor migrant Kannadigas. Today, KGI includes three English medium schools, one Kannada medium secondary school (for the underprivileged), one International School, one English medium junior college offering Science and Commerce and one college with diverse offerings in Humanities, Science and Commerce at the undergraduate level and M.Sc. in Computer Science at the Post Graduate level. About 8000 students study annually in the various institutes of KGI. KGI is one of the pioneering institutes that started providing counselling units in its schools 25 years back. Today KGI has a centre for remedial education, a centre for gifted education, and a daycare centre. In addition to the above, KGI continuously strives to improve the quality of Education. Currently, it is implementing an innovative programme on integrating inquiry and integration in the school curriculum, a project for nurturing and mentoring the gifted and underprivileged and the Mindful Parenting Programme. KGI also has experience in managing donor-funded projects and has managed the following projects: (i) a five-year grant from the government of India for the ATL lab; (ii) The Mindful Parenting Programme (a two-year research project) funded by the prestigious Berkley University of California; (ii) CSR projects funded by companies including Praj Foundation, ZF Steering India, Dassault Systemes. It is also registered with CAF America and gets funds for donors from America from time to time. Kaveri Gifted Education and Research Center Kaveri Gifted Education and Research Center (KGERC) is one of the institutes of the Kaveri Group of Institutes (KGI), a leading group of educational institutes in Pune and one of the pioneer institutes to have successfully launched an ‘ Identification and Gifted Nurturing Program ’ for their gifted students in 2009. Not only has KGI been running the gifted programme in its schools since then, but it has also gradually extended its programs, services and experience to other schools in Pune in collaboration with Mensa India, Pune Chapter.  In 2014, KGI established the Kaveri Gifted Education and Research Center (KGERC). KGERC’s vision  is to identify and nurture gifted children in order to help them reach their potential and contribute towards nation-building. Its mission is to establish integrated systems within schools that identify and support the needs of gifted children.  KGERC has a team comprising Gifted Education Experts having experience of more than 15 years of working with parents, teachers and gifted children. It also has access to experts in different fields, many of whom have been associated with KGERC as resource persons for the gifted program. KGERC’s team also includes resource persons trained from the IOWA University, USA in gifted education. KGERC has reached out to the University of Kentucky, Bowling Green, Belin Blank Centre, IOWA University, USA and European Council for Higher Ability (ECHA), Hungary for associations and regular interactions with regard to gifted education.
