AWARD is also an approved charity with 12 AA of the Indian Income Tax Act of 1961 for tax exemption for the donors & Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of 1976 & 2001 to receive foreign Contributions from the Home Ministry of Government of India. Having understood the burden of disabled persons to concern their lives showing them, a sparkling future to stand firm with their hidden abilities, the Award Trust was founded by Mr D Benjamin, who has the burden to shoot the drastic life of differently-abled persons and a noted trainer at the district levels in the issues of disability. For the past 20 years, the AWARD trust rendered its activities to poor disabled persons in various ways to fulfil their needs through government authorities. Our vision at AWARD Trust is to help the helpless mentally retarded persons by providing food, shelter, care, love and special education. In most families, the mentally retarded child, so the mother also took little care of the child. In a few families, the husbands get divorced from the wife because of these children. We have also been running a special school for mentally challenged children called Bethaniya Special School in Dharapuram, Tamil Nadu since 1999. This school was registered under the Commissionerate of Differently Abled, Tamil Nadu with registration no:1949/ST/2014. In Dec 2021, the founder and the Managing Trustee of the school Mr Benjamin expired due to Cardiac Arrest. Now due to the financial problem, the special school was not run during the year 2021-2022. If you give the funds to the new managing trustee Mrs M Usha Magesh W/o Mr D Benjamin is eager to run the school again.
