Through targeted efforts, it seeks to create a cadre of altruistic social workers who can serve as role models for others. Drawing inspiration from Buddhist teachings, the organisation strives to be a beacon of hope and kindness through various activities and projects. Founded by the late Shri K L Patwardhan, a retired educator, Swa-Roopwardhinee is committed to developing the talents of underprivileged children and transforming them into valuable members of society. With the support of dedicated friends and social workers, the institute was established under "Swa"-Roopwardhinee, coinciding with the International Year of the Child.

  • Integrated Self Development Centres

    District

    At Swa-Roopwardhinee, the Integrated Self Development Centres operate continuously, fostering regular engagement with beneficiary families. Various activities, including residential camps, trekking, and study tours, are organized to ensure holistic student development. Motivational training forms the core of these initiatives, leading to the recruitment of dedicated volunteers and inspiring some students to commit themselves to full-time social work.

  • Mobile Laboratory Project

    District

    In the Mobile Laboratory Project initiated by Swa-Roopwardhinee, inspired by the late Shri. Kishabhau Patwardhan in 1994-95, volunteers reached out to village schools surrounding Pune City, offering science experiment demonstrations. The enthusiastic response highlights the lack of laboratory facilities in many of these schools. Operating in Mulshi & Haveli Tehesil, the project primarily benefits students from Std. 5th to 7th, aligning experiments with their science syllabus. Students are encouraged to actively participate in these hands-on activities, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. Additionally, special sessions cater to 10th Std. students in various village schools.
