Through nationwide Functional English programmes implemented in collaboration with state governments, the foundation aims to revolutionize teaching methods in schools. Its approach, aligned with the National Education Policy of 2020, prioritizes critical thinking and creativity while equipping children with confidence and functional English skills for academic and career success. Teachers undergo thorough training to effectively deliver the curriculum, creating a supportive peer network for continuous improvement. Implemented in grades 1 to 8 in government schools, these programmes aim to create engaging and inclusive learning environments where students feel empowered to express themselves freely, fostering curiosity and lifelong learning.

The foundation works with the philosophy of 'empowering every child with English Literacy and developing a Learning Mindset,' recognizing that 90% of online content is in English and that knowing English facilitates the acquisition of 21st Century skills and opens doors to better career opportunities.

Pehlay Akshar has expanded from a single school in Worli in 2008 to partnering with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to train and support over 10,000 BMC teachers, launched digital initiatives during the pandemic, and created a collaborative learning ecosystem for improving English Literacy and 21st Century Skills.
