About

Through the grassroots leadership program of Coro India, in 2015, the initiative of single women started working as “Ekla Mahila Sangathan”. Initiall Read morey, the work started with 1886 women in 105 villages of 07 talukas in four districts (Beed, Osmanabad, Latur, Nanded) and now the work is going on with 19,000/- women in 350 villages in 11 talukas of four districts. 60% of these are single women while 40% are other women. Work is underway on the following themes (sections) with Total Women. Leadership; ·        A pool of women leaders will be developed at different levels with the required skills, motivation, and perspective to lead social and cultural norm change.   Women in Governance; ·        Increased active participation of women in Gramsabhas, statutory committees, and electoral processes. ·        Built capacities of potential women political leaders, elected women leaders of local self-governance, and women members of statutory committees. · Evidence of accepting the leadership of women at the block level through contests and winning in the electoral process.     Influencing: ·        A state-wide network will be developed of grassroots organizations working on the issues of women especially single women to become a platform to influence State decisions.  · Pressure will be created to bring changes in policy and regulation making, its effective implementation, and ensure the state’s accountability. ·        Some significant measures will have been taken by authorities to improve the lives of women at a mass level. VAW&G: ·        A solid structure will be created and strengthened to combat violence against women and girls. A mechanism to address violence issues will have been strengthened. ·        Individual and collective evidence will be seen where stigmatization against single women is decreased to some extent. Economic empowerment: ·        Financial institutions formed under EMS will reach to higher level in terms of operations, turnover, reach out, and efficiency. They will be completely women-centric in terms of practices, products, and ownership. ·        Women’s livelihood would have been promoted at a large level in terms of an increase in women engaged in livelihood-generating activities, an increase in women’s income, updated business and financial skills of women, increased access to finance and marketing and ownership over resources.
