The areas of activity for CANDLE are children care, women development, trainings, awareness generation and organizing the grassroots people for socio, economic, cultural and developmental activities in a collective manner. Our Goal Promotion of social, physical and economical well-being in an integrated manner for sustainable livelihood. Our Vision To improve the quality of life of the poorest of the poor, and enable them to become equitable citizens.

Programs

  • Women Empowerment Program

    The Women Empowerment Program encompasses a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the livelihoods and socio-economic status of rural women. These efforts include training sessions on value-added fish product preparation, mushroom cultivation, and tailoring, providing essential skills for income generation. Additionally, the program distributes cows and goats to impoverished Dalit widows, contributing to their health, nutrition, and social-economic empowerment. Basic financial literacy training is conducted for women, including weavers, equipping them with essential knowledge for financial management and independence. The program also offers training in banana fiber rope making, empowering rural women with diverse skills and opportunities for economic advancement.

  • Children Development Program

    The Children Development Program implements various initiatives to enhance the well-being and education of children in Pudukkottai District. This includes establishing 10 Evening Educational Coaching Centres in remote villages, distributing free school bags to underprivileged students, and providing nutritional food to Narikkurava Tribes children to incentivize school attendance and academic performance. Additionally, the program conducts Value Based Agriculture programs and functional English training for school children, aiming to broaden their skill set and knowledge base. Educational support is also extended to children affected by the GAJA CYCLONE, while daily breakfast food distribution benefits 93 impoverished school-going children in Rengammal chathram village, promoting their health and educational outcomes.
