The Aadhar Kendra Child Sponsorship Programme seeks to provide children from underprivileged backgrounds who are unable to buy necessities with a better future. Even while Deep Griha serves a large number of local kids, we have seen that children who have lost one or both of their parents are an especially susceptible population. Even while extended families adopt a large number of orphans, the additional strain on family finances means that these youngsters must frequently work, which shortens their childhood. The goal of the programme is to provide their kids with the finest start in life possible. A top-notch education is now essential for kids to advance in our more globalised environment.

The City of Child initiative acknowledges that children must grow up in a setting that is safe and secure. Fieldworkers are used by the scheme to identify the most vulnerable children from the Aadhar Kendra Scheme. These children are then placed at the City of Child hostel, which is located outside of Pune. These kids, who are either orphans or single parents, are unable to fulfil their potential because they live in a challenging or dangerous environment.

Deep Griha Academy (DGA) is an English medium co-ed school, located in Deulgaon Gada (near Choufula), Pune, India. Established in 2007, DGA strives to provide quality education that is relevant, through a child centered and experiential approach to learning. This is done by specifically designing activities that encourage children to learn through actively ‘doing’ rather than by simply memorizing text. Along with the CBSE curriculum followed, students are also taught locally relevant agricultural and vocational training skills. This is to ensure that the students are prepared for multiple/various opportunities after school.

Presently, there are over 200 students enrolled till 8th standard. The methodologies employed aim to develop values and qualities such as confidence, responsibility and social & environmental awareness.

Education is seen as a highly effective empowering tool in our country. Yet, due to certain circumstances, 47 million youth in India are dropouts. Tech Mahindra in partnership with Deep Griha is aimed at facilitating youth empowerment. The programme provides a 3 month course in vocational training including computer training and personality development. It has been specially designed for the youth of today (18+) assisting them in securing jobs and providing placements. On an average, we have a placement rate of 80%-85%. The course includes:

1. Computer training (Word, Excel, Power Point presentation, Paint, how to access the internet and create an mailing address)
2. Guidance from experienced mentors provided for vocational training
3. Training on how to behave and speak in a corporate setting
