Programs

  • Art for Aravani

The inaugural project, Aravani Project #001, commenced with a mural art installation in Bangalore in January 2016. Its objective was to carve out a space for the transgender community and acquaint them with art. This involved painting two murals in the vibrant K.R Market area.

The project began with the assembly of scaffolding and artists sketching on walls on Saturday, followed by a significant gathering on Sunday. This day saw members of the transgender and art communities converge to paint, create, interact, and foster dialogue. Participants enthusiastically joined in, becoming part of the wall art themselves. The overarching theme, 'INCLUDE,' aims to encapsulate various forms of inclusion: societal, artistic, and expressive.

From conception to execution, the process was intense yet deeply moving. As transgender individuals arrived, they were warmly received, seamlessly integrating with artists. Painting together, discussing challenges, and shattering stereotypes.
