    The Village Community Welfare Society, supported by The Swallows in Denmark, undertakes a three-year project to uplift women manual scavengers and improve their children's education. In the initial year, the programme in Annavasal Block includes training 50 peer educators, sensitizing manual scavengers, establishing educational support centres for their children, offering livelihood training, providing seed money for income generation to 50 women, and advocating for scavengers' rights. These efforts have significantly benefited the community, with dedicated staff achieving satisfactory outcomes.

  • Health & Hygiene Training Programme

    The Village Community Welfare Society is conducting a health and hygiene training programme for female stone quarry workers in Annavasal Block, funded by the Australian Consulate General, Chennai for one year. Implemented measures include village-level orientation meetings and monthly reviews. Since its commencement on February 15, 2012, until the reporting period ending March 31, 2012, 11 orientation meetings have been held, benefitting 420 women. The participants have gained valuable knowledge and experience. With one coordinator and two health workers dedicated to the project, the organisation ensures its success through devoted services.
